FREE PATTERN: Easy Twisted Cowl

That applies to scarves too, right?!
A customer recently asked me to make a scarf with these dimensions, and boy oh boy did it turn out lovely! The pattern was so simple I almost didn't write it down, but for the sake of spreading that crochet love and inspiration, here's the low-down!
Materials:
400 yards worsted weight yarn (something soft - I used Bernat Waverly yarn in Irish Moss for the green one, Bernat Waverly in Butter for the yellow one, and Red Heart Soft in Mid Blue for the blue one)
I and/or J hook (choose the hook size depending on how tight you crochet - I did row 1 with J and then switched to I after that, so that the cowl didn't get wider)
Scissors
Tapestry needle
Cowl1. Chain 215.
2. Hdc in third chain from hook and in each across. (212)
3-19: Ch 2, turn. Hdc in each stitch across.
You can wear your cowl with with one loop, two, or even three (though if you are going to loop it three times I might suggest chaining more to start).
Perfect for any other Midwesterners out there...or any place with a semblance of a winter! This one's sure to keep ya cozy!

ReplyDeleteI was wondering if you would show a picture of how it should be folded. Specifically "Then fold the rectangle so that there is a twist". I'm just not sure what it means and I want to make sure I do it correctly.
Hi Sophia! Thanks for your comment. I don't have any pictures at the moment, but it is really very simple. Just lay the whole rectangle down flat. Pick up one side and flip it once. Lay it back down, take the two short ends, and sew them together. Hope that helps!
