FREE PATTERN: Bow Baby Booties (larger size)

I was asked to make these bow baby booties in a bigger size, so while I was at it I decided to write the pattern down! Here it is:

Materials:
US H (5.00mm) crochet hook
WW yarn (I used Loops and Threads Impeccable, but any WW yarn will work)
Tapestry needle

Special Stitches:
sc-2-tog - (insert hook into next stitch, pull up a loop) 2 times, yarn over and pull hook through all 3 loops
dc-2-tog - (yarn over, insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops) 2 times, yarn over, pull through all 3 loops on hook.
dc-3-tog - (yarn over, insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops) 3 times, yarn over and pull through all 4 loops on hook.

Boots (make 2)
Ch 14.
1. Hdc in 2nd chain from hook and in next 11, 3 hdc in last chain (working in backside chains), hdc in next 11 chains, 2 hdc in last chain, sl st to first stitch.
2. Ch 2, hdc in same stitch as joining, hdc in next 11, 2 hdc in next 3, hdc in next 12, 2 hdc in last 2, sl st to ch-2 space.
3. Ch 2, hdc in same stitch as joining, 2 hdc in next 3, hdc in next 8, 2 hdc in next 8, hdc in next 13, 2 hdc in last 2, sl st to ch-2 space.
4. (back loops only) ch 2, hdc in each st around, sl st to ch-2 space.
5. Ch 2, sc in next 14, sc-2-tog, dc-2-tog 2 times, dc, dc-3-tog, dc, dc-2-tog 2 times, sc-2-tog, sc around, sl st to ch-2 space.
6. Ch 2, sc in next 13, sc-2-tog, dc-2-tog 4 times, sc-2-tog, sc around, sl st to ch-2 space.
7. Ch 2, sc in next 11, sc-2-tog, dc-2-tog 2 times, sc-2-tog, sc around, sl st to ch-2 space.
8. Ch 2, sc in next 11, sc-2-tog, sc around, sl st to ch-2 space.
9. ch2, sc 10, sc-2-tog, sc around, sl st to ch2 space.
10-13: Ch 2, sc around, sl st to ch-2 space.
For a taller boot, repeat the last row as many times as you need to. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Bows (make 2)
1.Ch 24, sc in 2nd ch from the hook and in the next 22.
2-4: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each stitch across.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Fold the rectangle in half and, using the long tail that you left, stitch all the way around the bow so that you have a smaller rectangle. Then cut a long piece of yarn and wrap it around the middle of the rectangle tightly.

Sew the bow onto the boot and you're done! This larger version ended up about 4.5-5", without stretching. You can find the free pattern for the smaller booties here.

  1. Hi there! Love your blog :-) I'm having a bit of trouble with this pattern. Is the row done in the back loops supposed to come right across the front of the foot? Are there any other photos of the booties? Thanks so much!

  2. Hi Laura! I am actually thinking of doing a step-by-step tutorial of these booties sometime soon, with pictures and everything :) Once I do, that might help clear up any confusion. But for pictures, you can see my smaller size of these booties, Bow Baby Booties. These will look the exact same, just in a bigger size. Hope that helps!

  3. I'm also having an issue with these, the opening for the foot seems so large, not like the photo of the smaller ones. Maybe I am missing something? It seems like I might not be doing enough 2-tog stitches?

  5. Shana, I haven't gotten around to it quite yet :) It's on my to-do list but unfortunately that's pretty long!!! I'm so sorry. I do have a boots pattern in my etsy shop that has a verrry step by step tutorial (with photos of every step) so if you want to try that and stick a bow on it instead of ruffles, here's the link:

Sorry, and I hope this helps!!

  6. I was diagnosed as HEPATITIS B carrier in 2013 with fibrosis of the
liver already present. I started on antiviral medications which
reduced the viral load initially. After a couple of years the virus
became resistant. I started on HEPATITIS B Herbal treatment from
ULTIMATE LIFE CLINIC (www.ultimatelifeclinic.com) in March, 2020. Their
treatment totally reversed the virus. I did another blood test after
the 6 months long treatment and tested negative to the virus. Amazing
treatment! This treatment is a breakthrough for all HBV carriers.
